The milestone payment, tied to Gilead's exercise of a licensing option, underscores the continued strength of Rockville's life sciences sector.
Rockville-based MacroGenics, Inc. announced this month that it has received a $10 million milestone payment following Gilead Sciences’ exercise of its option to license a preclinical bispecific program under the companies’ 2022 collaboration agreement. Utilizing MacroGenics’ proprietary TRIDENT platform, the licensed program targets two undisclosed markers for the treatment of solid tumors.
The milestone is the latest development in an expanding partnership between the two companies. Under their 2022 agreement, MacroGenics and Gilead are advancing three programs together, including MGD024, a clinical-stage bispecific molecule targeting CD123 and CD3, alongside two preclinical bispecific programs. MacroGenics remains eligible for up to approximately $1.6 billion in additional development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments across the collaboration, along with royalties on any resulting product sales.
MacroGenics’ continued progress with global partner, Gilead reflects the depth of talent and innovation within Rockville’s Biotech Corridor.
