Supernus Tops Fastest-Growing List
With a nearly 500% average annual increase in revenue since 2013, Supernus Pharmaceuticals easily topped the Washington Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Companies list in 2016. Founded in 2005, the Rockville-based company specializes in creating therapies for central nervous system diseases and recently received positive results for its drug that treats ADHD in children. The results enable Supernus to begin phase 3 clinical trials in 2017 with the hopes of petitioning the Food and Drug Administration for approval to market the drug.
The company, which also has two epilepsy drugs on the market, reported $144.4 in revenue in 2015, which was a nearly 20% increase from $122 million in 2014 and more than 1100% higher than its revenue of $12.02 million in 2013. Over the same period of time, Supernus has grown from 193 employees to 344 employees.
