Rockville Economic Development, Inc. Participates in Economic Development Week – October 26-31, 2014
Rockville, MD – In an effort to recognize and reaffirm the importance of business development locally and statewide, the week of October 26, 2014 has been identified by the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) as Economic Development Week throughout the state of Maryland. Economic Development Week will emphasize to the general public the importance of economic development for the State of Maryland, increasing their understanding of economic development’s contribution to the State’s business climate, job retention and growth rates, the tax base and the overall quality of life in Maryland.
Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI), as the economic development arm for the City of Rockville, is an active member of MEDA and an active participant in Economic Development Week. REDI will bring together its local, regional and statewide partners to showcase the resources available to local companies to help them grow and succeed. The organization will also be presenting their first-ever “Rockin’ in Rockville” Award to a local company who is making a difference to the local economy and to the community as a whole. The award will be presented at the REDI Resource Meetup on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Best Western Plus Rockville Hotel & Suites, 1251 W Montgomery Ave in Rockville.
REDI’s Executive Director Laurie Boyer commented, “The City of Rockville is an important component of the State’s economic success and we’re excited to host our Resource Meetup event to showcase the tools available to help our Rockville companies succeed as part of Economic Development Week. We’re also pleased to award our “Rockin’ in Rockville’ award” to a very deserving local company!”
REDI sponsors programs and events for the local business community including the Maryland Women’s Business Center, the StartRight! Women’s Business Plan Competition, Business Appreciation Week, an annual Commercial Broker B2B Event, and the “Rockville Works for Me” ad campaign, just to name a few.
