Preparing for Guests Like Harvey, Irma, Jose and Katia

Did you know that September is the Small Business Administration’s National Preparedness Month?

Good thing, because it’s all over the news.  You can’t avoid it.  Everybody’s talking about it.  This year’s hurricane season is epic.  With hurricanes Harvey and Irma wreaking havoc on the US and Katia doing damage in Mexico and Jose still hovering off the east coast, one can’t help but think about dealing with catastrophes’ after effects…especially if they are business owners.

But hurricanes are not the only catastrophes that can affect your business.  A successful, long standing company has to weather a lot of different “storms” throughout its life.

The key?  Preparedness.  Crossing all the “T”s and dotting all the “I”s before disaster hits can make or break your business.

Luckily there are quite a few places that have resources and information about how to get prepared and then how survive after the “storms” blow over, whether literal or figurative.

A great resource is the SBA’s Preparedness Website.  Click there to find great emergency preparedness information and a handy toolkit.

During disasters there is so much out of control, the best you can do is be as prepared as possible, BEFORE they strike.
