The award was created in 2014 to highlight Rockville-based companies that are making a difference in the local economy and community as a whole through their success, community engagement, and innovative practices. The award is presented annually at the REDI Resource Meetup (R2M) Event held during Maryland’s Economic Development Week in the fall.

2017 ROCKIN’ IN ROCKVILLE AWARD WINNERS
Our 2017 “Rockin’ in Rockville” award winner, Kalibri Labs, has doubled in size over the last 18 months to 30 employees, increased their revenues annually, and is poised to continue that growth as they bring new products to market. A ‘big data’ company focused on the hospitality industry, they set themselves apart from the competition by allowing hotels to track their NET revenue after acquisition costs so they have a better sense of their bottom line, versus most other systems which solely focus on top line revenue, which is less accurate. In addition to traditional employee benefits like a 401k plan, health/vision/and dental coverage, etc., they have a collaborative work environment that allows for cross training and promotion opportunities, fun company outings, casual dress, and free snacks!!
Mike’s Locksmith (Rockin’ Small Business)
With just 2 employees, our Rockin’ Small Business has increased revenues by approximately 30% every year since they’ve opened! They put their customers first and treat them like family. Their philosophy is that the small things make a big difference. They help make Habitat for Humanity homes more secure, and teach financial literacy through Junior Achievement. They volunteer regularly with Community Ministries, Habitat for Humanity and the Friendship Circle, and if that isn’t enough, one of the principals of the firm established a support and social group at Winston Churchill High School for families of children with autism. They are also a top-rated firm on Angie’s List, Yelp, and many other sites.
