Even While Traveling: Rockville’s New Kind of Hotel
In July 2014 InterContinental Hotels Group, a UK based company, opened a new hotel on Rockville Pike appropriately named “Even Hotel”. The only other location also opened earlier this summer in Norwalk, Connecticut. Their new take on the everyday hotel experience focuses on the physical and mental wellness of its customers – one of the first of its kind.
As you enter Even Hotel you are greeted with an array of fruit infused waters, a cool towel and are given the option of a sweat-proof wristband that is easy to workout with, unlike a regular room key. Right off the lobby is a state of the art gym with floor to ceiling windows that let in natural light. In addition there are separate rooms for cycling and yoga classes.
However it’s the in-room exercise space that makes this hotel stand out. Each room has a space with cork flooring and a built in “Even Trainer” that utilizes resistance bands. Additionally they are all equipped with a yoga mat and ball, block and foam roller. TV fitness programs made uniquely for the hotel run on a loop and guests are also given the option of a book of other exercises they can try.
Each room comes with a free reusable water bottle and an empty fridge so guests can stock up with healthy alternatives. Travelers also have the option of eating at Cork & Kale, the hotel’s own restaurant, which boasts healthy choices such as yogurts, flatbreads and salads with vegetarian and vegan options.
After working out and eating a healthy meal, guests will sleep between eucalyptus fiber sheets and have the ability to use blackout shades to get a quality night’s sleep.
Even Hotels offers an important service in Rockville that is surprisingly not common in most of the US. They give guests the ability to travel while also taking care of themselves and living a healthy, happy lifestyle. To learn more about Even Hotels visit their website.
